The Sea Wall - a staff favourite, and our most popular choice
Although the New Forest itself attracts most of the visitors to the area, we think that the Sea Wall route is another attractive option for a bike ride. A hidden gem that's a staff favourite.
On route you will have a chance to enjoy beautiful views of the Needles on the Isle of Wight, as well as the nature reserves that run alongside the Solent between Lymington and Keyhaven. On passing through Keyhaven you have the option to walk out to Hurst Castle.
After stopping at Milford on Sea to enjoy a refreshment stop, you have the choice to continue along the coast before returning to Lymington.
Highlights: Solent nature reserve's, views of the Isle of Wight, Hurst Castle, and cliffs.
Duration: 2-4h
Terrain : country roads with very little traffic, gravel paths, flat to mildly undulating.
Refreshments: The Chequers (nr Lymington) ,The Gun Inn (Keyhaven), Needles Cafe (Milford-on-Sea)
Notes: always slightly cooler than "inland"
The New Forest - Brockenhurst and Rhinefield Drive
A popular destination for many, a trip to Brockenhurst comes reccomended as it allows you to explore the area around Rhinefield Drive. Here you will find Giant Redwoods and Sequoia, as well as having an opportunity to explore the National Parks Arboretum.
Highlights: Forest cycling, the village of Brockenhurst, open heathland
Duration: 3.5 -6h
Terrain : country and b-roads with moderate traffic, gravel cycle paths, undulating in places
Refreshments: Red Lion Pub (Boldre), Brockenhurst Village, Rhinefield House Hotel
Notes: cheeky animals won't move from the road just because you're cycling fast towards them. They really aren't that bothered. It's an attraction!
Isle of Wight - Alum Bay and the Needles
Providing you start early in the morning and have plenty of stamina, the Isle of Wight offers some truly great cycling with spectacular views.
Getting the ferry from Lymington to the Isle of Wight, your cycle trip begins with a riverside cycle out of Yarmouth, before you enjoy a loop taking you to Alum Bay and the Needles. Here you can enjoy all that is on offer, before heading back to Yarmouth, taking in breathtaking veiws of the New Forest coast on your return cycle.
Highlights: most spectacular views in the area, no question!
Duration: 5-8h
Terrain: country lanes and gravel tracks. very hilly in many places
Refreshments: Many pubs line the route, and Alum bay has plenty of choice
Notes: start early, take your time, take suncream, plenty of drinks and food, good base fitness will make it more enjoyable.
This ride takes you into the New Forest using quiet country lanes that run alongside the Solent. On the way to Buckler's Hard, you will cycle past the remains of the Medieval tythe barn at St.Leonards, and the location of the Second World War airbase at Need's Ore Point.
At the Buckler's Hard attraction you can take a cruise along the River Beaulieu, and visit the Museum outlining the history of this maritime village.
Its then a cycle on to the picturesque village of Beaulieu, home to the National Motor Museum and Palace House.

Duration: 4-6h
Terrain: country lanes. mostly flat, with an occasional climb
Refreshments: Buckler's Hard, Beaulieu Village and Turfcutter's Arms (East Boldre)
Notes: Entrance fee payable at Buckler's Hard, and National Motor Museum
We use comfort mountain bikes with cushy fast rolling puncture resistant tyres and sprung seats. They are maintanained by experienced cycle mechanics. Bikes come with optional free helmets and locks.
SIZES
15"-21" (5'4'' to 6'2''height.) which will be suitable for most of teenagers and adults.
KIDS
Currently we don't offer any trailers, bikes or other accessories for kids. The smallest bikes will suit younger teenagers.
£15 - base rate per day, single bike
larger groups and multi day hire - negiotable
To rent bikes please bring with you a form of photo I.D, and a debit or credit card on the day of hire. Accepted forms of photo I.D include a Passport or Drivers Licence. To confirm your identity we will ask that you pay for the hire by debit or credit card. The card must be in the same name as the I.D provided.
